What is the punchclock feature ?

What is data key ?
Data key is a unique key that can be used to retrieve your events when you accidentally remove the “My Moments” gadget from your igoogle page or when the events accidentally disappear from your gadget. Another reason why you would want to have a data key, is to share your events with friends and family members. Read more about the data key feature in my blog.

How can I get my data key ?
You should see a link “Data Key” on your “My Moments” gadget (top right corner). Click this link and then click the button “Get My Data Key”. This should take you to a new screen that should display the data key. We recommend you to save this key in a text file in your personal computer.

How can I use data key to share my events ?

  1. Send the datakey to your friends or family members.

Various Display formats

You can display your countdowns in various display formats.  You can read about more about the display formats in my blog.

Alarm feature

You can have the gadget alert you 5 minutes before any event. Read more about alert/alarm feature in my blog.

Any cool features ?

This is a great tool. Very nice work! Thank you. For my purposes it would be useful to have the option to leave out the hours and minutes detail, as it tends to obscure what is most important. Other than that it is near perfect.

  5. 5 Andrea Aug 26th, 2007 at 12:35 am

    My Suggestions:

1.) Give the option to count in days or months or years (for example, I am using this to count my sobriety…it would be nice to be able to count days for the first 100 days, then switch to just months, then after some time, years and months). It would be fantastic to be able to customize how you want your count up/down displayed (date/time format, days, months, years, minutes, hours and/or any combination thereof)

2.) Ability to customize the color scheme to match my themes

3.) Ability to show/hide todays date/time at the top

4.) Ability to order your count ups/downs by your importance rather than only by length of time passed/due.

Otherwise, I absolutely love this tool. I use it all the time for all types of things. I also suggest it to many others in AA/CA.

Thanks for all your great work.
    Andrea

Looks good, the only thing I have to say is that I would use it if it worked with google cal. I am sure this is not a easy thing to do but would be nice ;)
    anyhow good work thanks

I have been using this for a little over a month. Worked great until today. All my countup and countdowns dissappeared. Any ideas. It would be great if there was a save option to store an archive of the different events. That might eliminate what happened to me. It is great tool for a law office, where due dates and making them mean the difference between winning or losing a case.

  9. 9 Mahin Sep 13th, 2007 at 12:04 pm

    Dovid,
your suggestion is great. And I’am glad you got all your events back. I’am working on new features that will definitely include a way to backup the events. thanks..

Great tool! Here are some suggestions for you:
    1. Allow the user to customize the countup/down format. For instance, I don’t really need to see the hours and minutes for most items, just days.
    2. Allow the user to specify whether the countup starts on day 1 or day 0. You have it implemented as starting on day 0.

    Hey Mahin!

Still using it! Love it still….

Any news on a new release or upcoming features? Would love to have a days only or months only count…Sobriety and all, you know…;-)

    Thanks
    Andrea

    Hey Mahin!
Is it possible for next release to add in an popup alert when a momemnt occurs? Also if its possible to edit the popup to occur, for an example: 1h, 2h, 3h, 1 day, 2 days etc before?

When do you plan next release?

    Cheers Per

    Hello,

I can’t get this tool to work. I can add an event just fine but whenever the page is refreshed the event disappears.

    Please help.

  14. 14 Mahin Nov 13th, 2007 at 10:14 am

The problem is that the user preference is not getting saved. (http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Gadgets-API/browse_thread/thread/36f4205df1d14ea9?hl=en ). I have to wait until Google resolves this issue. People who are already using this gadget will not have any problem. New users will face this problem of re-entering the key.

  15. 15 Maxxx Nov 14th, 2007 at 1:48 pm

Is there a work around for the preference problem.

  16. 16 Soham Dec 4th, 2007 at 7:13 pm

Any way this can be ported to Netvibes

Netvibes doesn’t have a single countup timer

  17. 17 Mahin Dec 6th, 2007 at 1:40 am

I’m looking into porting for netvibes. Just need some time :)
    thanks.

    It looks like this:
    http://www.imageserve.info/img_store/2007/12/30/d/d2ce97258c5c6bb545c2db0b1d5d7137.jpg
    Great tool anyway.

  19. 19 Mahin Dec 31st, 2007 at 8:20 pm

Does it look like this always ? I would assume it is just a temporary problem. It could be because the server was down temporarily. Let me know.

  20. 20 Stan Jan 1st, 2008 at 5:48 pm

    Can’t save my events.

  21. 21 sinred Jan 3rd, 2008 at 10:10 am

Well, it looks like this 3-4 weeks ago and still appears like this.

  22. 22 sinred Jan 4th, 2008 at 4:48 am

Oh yes, and I changed it back to english version of igoogle from hungarian and still the same.

  23. 23 Jana Jan 14th, 2008 at 8:44 am

I, too, cannot get the thing to save the events I put in! When do you think this problem will be resolved? I would really like to use this gadget!

  24. 24 Mahin Jan 14th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

Google has promised to fix this issue soon (Visit GOOGLE ISSUE) .Once it is fixed, I will update it to newer version that most of you requested -Mahin

  25. 25 Jon Mar 1st, 2008 at 7:11 pm

Is there a way to add an audible alert when a countdown is up? Or a pop-up–I’d like to be able give myself an alert before a meeting, for example.

    Thanks,

  26. 26 Dan Mar 26th, 2008 at 7:59 am

This was mentioned once, but we need a “unhide” feature. Great otherwise!! Thanks.

  27. 27 chrissy Apr 3rd, 2008 at 5:57 pm

how do i use it as a counter?

    ~Chrissy

  28. 28 Mahin Apr 4th, 2008 at 1:15 am

Chrissy: you can try my activity tracker. It functions like a counter . http://www.screeperzone.com/2007/08/09/activity-tracker-version-01-released

  29. 29 chrissy Apr 10th, 2008 at 7:33 am

I meant like a clicker counter type

  30. 30 Christopher Rogers Apr 17th, 2008 at 11:42 am

Hello. Your gadget is exactly what I have been looking for, for what seems like forever. I’ve tried javascript, PHP, nothing seems to work quite like I want it to. The only thing I was wondering was, do I have to enter my name or key each time the page is loaded? My website is viewed mostly by my family who can’t or won’t be able to figure that out. Thanks.

  31. 31 Soham Jun 13th, 2008 at 7:36 pm

Any update on the netvibes version??

  32. 32 Kathy Jul 16th, 2008 at 6:41 am

How do I change the appearance of my moments? I would like to make larger so more prominent on my page… Thanks!

  33. 33 Russ Aug 6th, 2008 at 12:10 pm

This looks like a very nice gadget. I hope you will port it to a Vista gadget soon.

  34. 34 Timo Jan 26th, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Awesome gadget. Is it possible to add weekly/bi-weekly repeating events? (I want to add a countdown until payday!! which is every other thursday)

  35. 35 ABD Jun 1st, 2009 at 12:20 pm

    Mahir,

I don’t know if you are still checking replies or not (I hope you are). I would really like to add this gadget to my Blogger blog page, but when I click on “add event” it first opens the form for a second or two, then opens ScreeperZone in the box instead. It works fine on my iGoogle page, but where I really need it is on my blog.

    Can you help?
    Thank you so much,

    ABD

  36. 36 Peter Jun 10th, 2009 at 10:39 am

currently mymoments for vista sidebar is not supported.

  38. 38 Greg Jul 1st, 2009 at 3:59 pm

Like Timo suggested. I’d like to have a weekly event function as well. Would be great for things like payday or favorite TV shows!
