You can download the gadget by clicking the Vista sidebar button below:
Version 1.2.0 (Recommended Version)

(Minimized View)

(Maximized View)
NOTE: If you are using old version (If you can’t find version number at the bottom of the gadget, then you are using OLD version), Please export or print the logs at your convenience. PLEASE DO NOT edit settings before you export or print your activity logs.
The functionalities are similar to the iGoogle and NetVibes gadgets. You can read the functionalities here.
New features included as part of Version 1.2.0
- Minimizing the gadget to fit Vista sidebar: You can click “Minimize” link at the bottom to fit the gadget in to Vista sidebar. If you want to look at the more advanced version, click “Maximize”.
- More storage: You can track activity for longer time without exporting and clearing your logs. But to be productive, I would recommend you to export it on a monthly basis.
Some known quirks include:
- The gadget will seem to disappear sometimes when you click on “edit” or when adding new activities. Don’t Panic ..Just scroll through the vista sidebar tabs (On the top of the sidebar near the “+”, there should be “>” and “<”), and you should see the gadget in the next tab. The reason is that - Vista seems to push the gadget to the next tab when it doesn’t have enough space to display the entire gadget.
- Currently, it is not possible to adjust the width. So the gadget will look like it has exceeded the width of the sidebar.
I am trying to improve this gadget whenever I get some free time.
Please leave your comments and suggestions. I appreciate your feedback.

This just gets better and better. Thanks
I’m a computer consultant with more projects going on each day than I want to think about. Awesome gadget. EXACTLY what I need. Keep up the good work.
Nice update. Minimized mode is nice. One problem, though — when I click a task when it’s minimized, it maximizes automatically and doesn’t automatically minimize when I sign out. It would be better for me if it just stayed minimized unless I maximize it. I can sign in to a task and then minimize the gadget (I guess that’s what you did for your screenshot), but then it just maximizes again when I sign out, and it would be more useful if it never maximized in the first place.
Thanks for a good gadget.
Thank you so much for this gadget. Most helpful of any I have seen and definitely my most used. Is there an ability to see a timeline of my time use, a chronological record of my punches with the time on each. This would be a great functionality to have, especially if it could be exported as a comma delineated spreadsheet.
Thank you.
To see record of your punches click “log”. You also have print and export option.
Hi,
This is a great little tool but i am having a few problems with it. I am using it as a Vista gadget, but sometimes i am not able to view the log. I click on the log link and the cursor shows activity but no log opens. Do you have any ideas why it isn’t opening (the same happens with graph as well)
Also I am wondering where the data is stored?
Cheers
Toby
Toby,
clicking “log” or “graph” must open a new Internet Explorer window and display “Loading..”. Do you see this loading message ?. All your data are stored in your vista system.
Just an FYI - None of the data is stored on ScreeperZone servers. All data is stored on your local Windows box. You can see the data in the following folder
C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\ActivityTracker.gadget\ActivityTracker_prjs.txt <- This file has the data. So you donot
have to worry about ANY privacy concerns. All your data is in your local machine.
I’m enjoying this tool. Very easy to use. I’ve deleted my log accidently once though! LOL
The feedback I would like to offer is the ability to reorganize the list. As I think of things I add them, but sometimes I’d like to move them to the top, or even organize alphabetically.
It’s going to be very valuable to see which projects or activities use more of my time, if I’m dedicating my time to the right places, and where my time wasters are. It’s supporting me to be more conscious of where I do spend my time.
Thanks again for the valuable tool.
we get many projects and many task to handle.. i was looking for small application to keep up my project activities and give out to my clients the work we have been doing, i really could’nt find anything useful or easy.. until now..
really love using this, thanks and keep up the good work.
Is there a way to retrieve a log if the x next to the log name is clicked by accident?
If the gadget would count down and end with an alarm, that would be cool.
I am a web designer and I love this gadget. I ‘ve used Ibiz for the mac while working at a graphic design, it’s nice because it can be used over a network, although I really think I like your gadget better. It’s simple to use , takes up a small amount of the screen and does exactly what I want. The only thing I could recommend would be to allow an area for comments on the task. I really usually like to explain a little more then fits in the type box to the client.
Loving it! I was hoping to enable multiple tasks at once though - I keep track of my work hours and the time I work on each project I have ongoing at the same time!!!
Is this possible? Would be much appreciated!
Can you please explain the “Save” option in a log? I put the name of the project I was working on in the text box clicked “Save” and went to another log when I came back it was empty.
Thanks.
Great product. Try to make it so it doesn’t maximaze when you click a new task. For me, one was active and I clicked an unactive one to switch. It switched, but it also maximized. See if that can be eliminated.
This is excellent gadget. Thank you very much for making it available. To trace time I spend on projects is important to me, so I can charge my customers properly. Good work!!
This is absolutely awesome. I’ve tried a few others, but nothing compares to the features you’ve wrapped up in this gadget. Kudos to you on a well designed gadget!!!
This is a great tool. I have just stumbled accross it and downloaded the windows side bar gadget as well as the igoogle plug in. I have a couple of questions which i cannot seem to find the answers to. Also have a couple of sugestions.
1. I found where the sidebar gadget stores it’s data. Is all the data stored in that folder? I.E. if i back up that folder is that everything i need in case of system crash? Also where does igoogle plugin store it’s data so i can backup.
2. Is there a way that i can make the time that is shown on the minimised gadget to just be counting up the current activity. i.e. would like to see how long i have been working for this session only on that project instead of total time?
3. I cannot to see an instruction manual on how to use the gadget. Is there one around?
4. It seems to open up a page on your server to show and print reports. Do i have an option to pay and have it open on my own computer. i.e. i would like not to have to have web access to view reports.
SUGGESTIONS/PROBLEMS:
1. In the sidebar gadget i made a mistake and hot on the x beside the project. It deleted straight away without giving me a warning. This is a problem cause i lost information and cannot remember what it was.
2. Maybe underneath an activity we could have the option to put in a $ amount per hour so we could see what we have earned on each activity in reports.
3. Some sort of integration between the igoogle gadget and the sidebar gadge so if i am not at home i can use the igoogle but when i opened my computer at home it would auto import the data into my sidegadget.
This is great.. I was wondering if you have a Google Desktop version of this gadget?
Hi.
Just installed the Time Tracker gadget. Good so far but it could use a new look. I’d love to design it for you, and make it a ‘must’ download. Drop me a line to discuss. N/C of course.
Cheers,

I love this, I’ve just moved on to my vista laptop and was looking for something to help me with my time keeping for work (I’m a web designer).
A few suggestions- a bit of a new look, prehaps less white more gray to blend in with the side bar.
Having to auto set for minimised to keep it inline with the sidebar.
Being able to be “In” more than one job at a time.
Looking forward to seeing the next update but its a very good program!
I love this tool and now I use it to bill my clients.
I have noticed two issues however that I am not sure how to resolve.
Adding this gadget to my sidebar creates another instance of the sidebar in the task manager. (I wonder if this is a 64-bit OS related issue.)
Also, over a period of several days, the memory usage grows to over 100Mb.
Awesome tool, keep up the great work.
Thanks
Excellent tool!
One small problem I noticed on my installation — when I edit an entry (by clicking the edit link) and then return to the list, clicking “IN” or “OUT” next to any item has no effect anymore. However, I can completely close and re-add the widget and it starts working again.
I would like the ability to be clocked in on multiple time entries at once. Maybe an option to turn this kind of feature on and off. Good Work.
This is just what I was looking for!
Suggestions for minor enhancements:
- Do not maximaze when changing tasks
- Place the minimize button on top, next to the maximize button (when maximized)
I LOVE the tool! Future enhancements i would like to see are 1) increased note size - 50 characters isn’t enough; 2) ability to generate reports when not on internet; and 3) display the time spent on the task in current session as well as time spent across all sessions. I agree with an earlier poster - i would even pay if you were to develop a Professional version with additional features. It’s a great tool for consultants like me! thanks!!
I started using Activity Tracker a few weeks ago and like it very much. I just came across a problem that wrecks its value. After making 6 or 7 entries without problem, I now get AT calculating time from midnight even though I input (and AT shows)8:00 or 9:00 am. This throws the count off by 8 or 9 hours each time.
I’ve erased entries and rekeyed numerous times. I even deleted the program and downloaded a new copy.
What am I doing wrong?
I love this product. This is exactly what I need to keep on track. One problem, though. I made a mistake a deleted/closed the program and couldn’t find it listed in the programs on the computer. If you close down the program, how do you retrieve it? I ended up downloading and installing it again.
I really like it,,, its so helpful for me, because i need to count how many hours I study, with this gadget i don’t need to even think about that anymore, just need to remember for out before i stop work,, hehe
Great product - I am a computer consultant and I do a lot of remote phone support. This will definately help me and my technicians track our time more accurately, and will result in more billable support time. Thanks!
GET A NICE SKIN ON IT. THANKS
I agree, change the skin to make it look more appealing. like rounded edges, color, different font maybe. thanks!
This tool is great. I have some problems using it in that sometimes I click the clear all logs instead of graph and lose log data. Is it backed up or recoverable? If not is it possible to build in an “are you sure you want to clear …? ” type prompt to prevent accidental data loss.
its a wonderful tool, thanks for taking time to develop, such a nice tool.
It would be great if you can add different background color other than the plain white. Some color choices or even transparent features would make this software superb looking.
