My Moments - Version 1.0 with new features

Its been a long time since I released a new version for the Countdown/Countup gadget.

Here are some new features that I added to the gadget today. To view them, just click on edit settings

  1. New display formats: The new display formats can be changed by clicking on Google settings.
    • Display in years-months-days- hours-minutes
    • Display in months-days-hours-minutes
    • Display in days-hours-minutes
      • If the countdown is lesser than 1 day, the display format changes to hours-minutes
    • Display in months only
      • If the countdown is lesser than 1 month, the display format changes to days-hours-minutes.

  2. Alert: You can enable alerts by going to edit settings. You will be alerted 5 minutes before the event is about to occur. Please ensure that your browser is enabled to hear the alert. Visit Test Voice to verify compatibility.

And in case you forgot, you can share your events with friends and family by sending them your “data key”. Read more about the data key feature and how to share your events with family

My Moments Update - Share your events with friends and family !!

I added a cool feature “Data key” that will help you to backup your events in case of data loss. It is also a feature that will help you to share your events with friends and family members.

What is data key ?
Data key is a unique key that can be used to retrieve your events when you accidentally remove the “My Moments” gadget from your igoogle page or when the events accidentally disappear from your gadget. Another reason why you would want to have a data key, is to share your events with friends and family members.

How can I get my data key ?
You should see a link “Data Key” on your “My Moments” gadget (top right corner). Click this link and then click the button “Get My Data Key”. This should take you to a new screen that should display the data key. We recommend you to save this key in a text file in your personal computer.

How can I use data key to retrieve my lost events ?

  1. Add a new “My Moments” gadget from www.screeperzone.com/countdown .
  2. Enter the data key that you had backed up into the text box that says “[OR] Enter Data key”.
  3. Click Submit and wait while the gadget retrieves all your events.

 

How can I use data key to share my events ?

  1. Send the datakey to your friends or family members.
  2. Request them to add a new “My Moments” gadget from www.screeperzone.com/countdown.
  3. Ask them to enter the data key that you had sent into the text box that says “[OR] Enter Data key”
  4. Click Submit and wait for the gadget to retrieve your events.
  5. NOTE: If they happen to delete or modify the events, it WILL be reflected on your gadget as well. So ask them to be careful when modifying/deleting any events.

“My Moments” - Countdown, countup and much more..

“My Moments” is a Google gadget that displays the days until and days since a memorable event took place. Also you can use this gadget to see how long its been since you started dating, mowed your lawn etc.

Some of the features include:

  1. Ability to add multiple countdowns and countups.
  2. Year since 0001 is supported.. so go ahead and add all the historical events that happened since your great great great great … grandfather.
  3. Ability to add recurring events (Monthly, Yearly, Daily)
  4. Displays upto the minute details for all events.
  5. Various display formats.
  6. Alarm to remind you when the event is due.
  7. Countdowns automatically convert to Countups on expiration.
  8. Ability to add quick events.
  9. Watch how long you have been working on a project (punchclock kind of feature)
  10. Provides a snapshot of todays events.
  11. Efficient handling of all time-zone issues.. and yes - you can add an event in California and be sure that the event shows up accurately in India. (provided you adjust the timezone on your computer)
  12. See the date and time change in real-time.
  13. Hide an event if you are no longer interested and it will show up only when it is due.
  14. Easily remove an event when you no longer want to keep a watch.
  15. Backup your events or share your events with friends/family using “Data Key”.
